KMT Waterjet Two Dimension Cutting
The most popular application is the 2D waterjet X-Y cutting process. The KMT Waterjet cutting head, using the KMT Autoline II or KMT IDE cutting head moves in X-Y axes, according to the outputs given by the CNC Motion Controller. In many cases, the Z (height) axis is controllable in order to
adapt to non-flat or thicker materials; in such cases, the waterjet cutting head needs to be very close to the material being cut. This type of waterjet system is best for rapid production of many different types of parts from different materials.
Important features include the water jet’s cutting speed (some machines move at up to 4,500 inches per minute) and the number of parts to be cut (some water jet cutters have multiple heads, often with the ability for “mirror” or reverse cutting). Machine sizes range from 2' x 2' tables to extremely large tables. There are also many options to consider, including whether to have a saw attached to the table for stone and tile applications.
